·        Perform golf course maintenance activities utilizing proper technical methods.

·        Assist in the supervision of day-to-day golf maintenance activities.

·        Inspect golf course turf grass, horticultural, and golf maintenance conditions to ensure proper technical methods and standards are being met.

·        Inspect, repair and perform maintenance of irrigation systems.

10%

·        Scout, monitor, and sample for pest, weed, and activity in turf grasses, lakes, ornamentals.  Report and document conditions.

·        Apply pesticides and fertilizers utilizing proper technical methods.

10%

·        Lead weekend course maintenance activities.

·        Ensure the completion of all work assignments.

   5%

·        Attend monthly and weekly staff meetings (including all training and safety meetings).

   5%

 

Supportive Functions

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.

·        Clean maintenance area and equipment.

·        Record applications and inventory of pesticides and fertilizers.

·        Participate in HAZCOM program by maintaining correct and current MSDS information.

·        Report any conditions or challenges that need attention to the Superintendent of Golf Course Maintenance.


Other Duties

·        Assimilate into JDM Golf PRIDe4 (Exceed Expectations, Every Guest, Every Time) culture through understanding, supporting and participating in all elements of PRIDe4.

·        Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.  Requests for reasonable accommodation will be reviewed by the Company.

·        Ability to identify plant species of the southwest region.

·        Ability to recognize, communicate and/or resolve maintenance and irrigation repair challenges.

·        Ability to operate, repair and maintain irrigation system, pump station, irrigation computer system.

·        Ability to maintain, repair and safely operate golf course and landscape equipment.

·        Knowledge of the methods, techniques, tools, materials, equipment used in golf course horticulture, landscape maintenance and turf grass management.

·        Ability to identify plant species common to the southwest region.

·        Knowledge of turf grass pests and diseases and their identification and control.

·        Extensive knowledge of fertilizers and pesticides, and their application techniques and purpose.

·        Leadership and supervisory abilities.

·        Ability to work alone with limited supervision, follow instructions and be detail-oriented.

 

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to walk long distances on all types of terrain, stand, bend, and kneel for long periods in a harsh outdoor environment.

Safety Requirements

OSHA laws require the use of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have potential risk to your health or safety, such as safety glasses, gloves, particle mask, earplugs and appropriate PPE required during pesticide and/or fertilizer applications.

If necessary, team members will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE.  JDM Golf provides the required PPE.  It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly.  This position also ensures that all subordinate staff follows Safety and PPE policies and procedures at all times.

 

This position is designated as a "safety sensitive" position as defined by Arizona House Bill 2541.  The essential functions of the position include tasks or duties that could affect the safety or health of the employee performing the task or others, including any of the following:

·        Operating a motor vehicle, other vehicle, equipment, machinery or power tools.

·        Repairing, maintaining or monitoring the performance or operation of any equipment or machinery, the malfunction of which could result in injury or property damage.

 

Work Environment

Work environment is typical of an open golf course.  The temperature and weather conditions of the work area are affected by outside conditions.  Maintenance shops will have odors from fertilizers, pesticides, and equipment fluids.  Areas where landscaping equipment are stored may have grass and other landscaping clippings and dirt on the floor.  Machinery may contain dirt, oil, and/or grease.  Shops are not heated in the winter or cooled in the summer.  Special PPE may be required for the application of pesticides and/or fertilizer.

 

Minimum Qualifications

·        High School Diploma or equivalent certificate preferred but not required.

·        Five years of experience in golf course maintenance and/or in turf grass maintenance, landscape or horticulture.

·        Minimum of five years of experience as a chemical applicator.

·        Possess an Arizona Structural Pest Control Commission certification and license, or the ability to obtain such.

·        Valid Arizona Driver's License.

 

Additional Requirements

·        Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by JDM Golf from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.  Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

·        Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the golf course.

·        Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with JDM Golf rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the golf club facilities.  Employees who violate golf club rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

·        All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance suitable for golf courses (specific standards available).
