| City of Prescott EQUIPMENT MECHANIC – Golf Maintenance Pay Grade: 59 Pay Range: $18.77 to $26.94 per hour DOE/Q plus benefits New employees usually start at beginning level of pay range. FLSA Status: Non-exempt (eligible for overtime) Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License (CDL preferred) with appropriate endorsements. Must pass pre-employment drug and background check.Qualifications: Education and/or experience equivalent to high School Diploma and two (2) years experience in light mechanical equipment repair and maintenance. Golf course mechanic experience required. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.Tasks: Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment including, diesel and gasoline powered automobiles, trucks, trenchers, sweepers, rollers, mowers, and other mechanical equipment used in utility/maintenance work. Maintains a preventive maintenance program within budget on all equipment, and purchases repair parts and replacement supplies; keeps a complete set of records for equipment on the courses, and services or supervises servicing of equipment prior to use; spot checks equipment for performance on the courses, frequently makes emergency repairs to equipment on the courses and supervises servicing of equipment prior to use; oversees the shop area maintenance; regulates employees' use of equipment in the absence of the superintendent, if needed, and performs other duties as directed by the superintendent. Will be part of a two-mechanic team.Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities: • Ability to grind and adjust reels on golf course mowing equipment. • Understanding of quality cut techniques. • Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment and automotive apparatuses. • Skill in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools, and skill in the various types of mechanical repair. • Working knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of internal combustion engines and mowing equipment. • Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession. • Must be willing to work in a team atmosphere. • Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work. • Ability to communicate effectively and keep good business records. Physical and Visual Ability: must able to lift 50 lbs and to effectively and safely perform required duties and operate required equipment and city vehicle as needed. Must be able to see clearly, with correction if necessary, during both day and evening hours and in potentially adverse weather conditions.Hearing and Speaking Ability: sufficient to clearly, concisely and effectively communicate in person and over the telephone.Applicant must be free from mental disorders that would interfere with performance of duties as described.
