Duties:

Facilities Management Grounds Services department is looking for an experienced Irrigation Specialist, Senior to join our team. Grounds Services is an award winning team that cares for the beautiful University of Arizona campus. From planting and maintaining flowers to trimming trees, our staff ensures the clean and orderly appearance of the grounds, structures, and facilities at the U of A. * Sets, programs, and maintains run times on computer and irrigation controllers. 
*Calculate pipe size, friction loss, flow rates and related technical calculations. 
* Troubleshoots computerized electronic systems, irrigation controllers, solenoid valves, and heads of all types. 
* Assigns, coordinates, and inspects the work of irrigation specialists. 
* Initiates corrective action to secure satisfactory standards and timely project completion. 
* Maintains cost records which may include time and material costs. 
* Estimates irrigation design and repairs. 
* Designs new and complex irrigation systems or may redesign old irrigation systems. 
* Coordinates with electrician, telecommunications staff and other appropriate departments/outside contractors in the design, installation and repairs of automated irrigation systems. 
* Repairs and inspects lines, valves, and sprinklers on irrigation systems, installs new drip and sprinkler systems; removes old systems and recovers reusable equipment. 
* Operates tractors and trenchers to install system components. 
* Performs other duties as required, including driving University vehicles to perform duties and responsibilities.  

Salary:

$22,602 - $32,000 Annually

Requirements:

Five years of underground lawn sprinkler system repair and installation experience which includes one year of sprinkler system design and inspection experience; OR, an Associates degree in agriculture or horticulture and three years experience in the inspection, repair and installation of sprinkler system design; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education. 
Possession of a current Arizona drivers license upon employment.
