1. Participates in the planning and supervision of routine maintenance activities to include P1 (priority) tasks (mowing greens, changing cups, course set up and raking bunkers) and P2 tasks (mowing fairway, tees and rough). Consults with the Golf Course Superintendent to decide the best use of personnel and equipment to complete daily operations for the desired results. 2. Participates in the daily assignment of equipment to employees and inspects for the proper use, cleaning and storage of equipment to assigned parking. Stages designated equipment and tools to prepare for the following day. Coordinates with mechanics to insure preventive maintenance, repairs and readiness of equipment fleet. 3. Participates in the daily monitoring of putting greens (moisture, firmness, green speed and clipping yield) using measuring devices and records data. Observes and evaluates playing conditions (moisture, mowing quality, bunker raking, course set up) to take corrective action or reports to Superintendent. 4. Implements the Accessory Hole Program by identifying tasks to be done each day, preparing the staff and tools for each task and executing the activity on each accessory hole to complete detail work. 5. Maintains effective employee and public relations. Monitors employee uniforms (shirts, boots, helmets and personal protective equipment) to provide service to the employees and ensure compliance of uniform policy. 6. Performs coaching and counseling for the staff on job performance. Monitors actions and behavior of staff to ensure a positive work environment and a cohesive workforce. 7. Assists the Superintendent in keeping records of maintenance activities, including but not limited to job tracking, chemical and fertilizer applications as required by law. Reviews records to evaluate current status and meets with Golf Course Superintendent to develop plans. 8. Assists in the operation of the irrigation system (knowledge of the Rainbird Control System and pump station operation, field observations and scouting for proper moisture, sprinkler adjustments and repairs). Determine water requirements based on field observations and programs central computer to apply necessary irrigation. Supervises Irrigators to ensure that water is applied only when necessary 9. Demonstrates knowledge and compliance of company and departmental safety policies to ensure a safe work environment. Conducts safety training meetings with the staff on company required topics and external safety programs. 10. Performs other duties as assigned. |
