Duties:

This position assists the Superintendent of Golf Course Maintenance in providing high quality golf courses and total guest satisfaction through proper maintenance and repair of equipment and tools.

Essential Functions:

·        Perform golf course maintenance activities utilizing proper technical methods, including but not limited to spraying, irrigation work, and all other hands-on golf course maintenance tasks.

·        Assist in supervision of day-to-day golf maintenance activities when directed by Superintendent.

·        Inspect golf course turf grass, horticultural, and golf maintenance conditions to ensure proper technical methods and standards are being met.

·        Inspect, repair & perform maintenance of irrigation systems.

·        Scout, monitor & sample for pest, weed & activity in turf grasses, lakes, ornamentals.  Report & document conditions.  Apply pesticides & fertilizers utilizing proper methods.

·        Lead weekend course maintenance activities & ensure the completion of all work assignments.

·        Attend monthly and weekly staff meetings 9 including all training and safety meetings.

Supportive Functions:

·        In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions:

·        Clean maintenance area and equipment.

·        Record applications and inventory of pesticides and fertilizers.

·        Participate in HAZCOM program by maintaining current MSDS information.

·        Report any conditions or challenges that need attention to the Superintendent of Golf Course Maintenance.

Other Duties:

·        Assimilate into JDM Golf Pride (Exceed Expectations, Every Guest, Every Time) culture through understanding, supporting and participating in all elements of PRIDE.

·        Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards.

 

Salary:

DOE Dependent upon experience.

Benefits:

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·        Ability to identify plant species of the SW region.

·        Ability to recognize, communicate and/or resolve maintenance and irrigation repair challenges.

·        Ability to operate, repair and maintain irrigation system, pump station, irrigation computer system.

·        Ability to maintain, repair and safely operate golf course and landscape equipment.

·        Knowledge of the methods, techniques, tools, materials, equipment used in golf course horticulture, landscape maintenance and turf grass management.

·        Knowledge of turf grass pests and diseases and their identification and control.

·        Extensive knowledge of fertilizers and pesticides, and their application techniques and purpose.

·        Leadership abilities and supervisory abilities.

·          Ability to work alone with limited supervision, follow instructions and be detail-oriented.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to walk long distances on all types of terrain, stand, climb stairs, bend, and kneel for long periods of time in a harsh outdoor environment.

Minimum Qualifications

·        High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

·        Five years of experience in golf course maintenance and/or in turf grass.

·        Minimum of five years of experience as a chemical applicator.

·        Possess an Arizona structural Pest Control Commission certification and license, or the ability to obtain such.

·        Valid Arizona Driver’s license.
