ANNOUNCEMENT OF EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

                                            Mechanic’s Assistant

                          ANTELOPE HILLS GOLF COURSE

                                 Pay Range: 52    Pay Range: $15.79 to $22.11 per hour plus benefits

                               New employees start at beginning level of pay range

                                                   FLSA Status:  Non-exempt (eligible for overtime)

 

Special Requirements:   Must be able to routinely lift, push and pull 75 pounds.  Prior golf course experience and knowledge of bed knife grinding and reel grinding are a must.  Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and criminal background check.

 

Qualifications: High School graduation or equivalent.  Education and/or experience equivalent to one (1) year full time apprenticeship or entry-level repair in the golf course industry. Must possess a valid Arizona Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) with appropriate endorsements or obtain within six (6) months of hire. 

 

Tasks:  Performs routine maintenance and repair servicing on assigned mowers; changes oil & filters, check fluid levels, batteries, check brakes and pads, replace as needed; check, rotate, repair, replace tires; inspect mowers and related golf course equipment to ensure performance and proper cutting, electronics and electrical; repair and service golf course vehicles; perform scheduled tune-ups and preventive maintenance. Ensure safety items such as seat belts, ROPS protection are functioning properly.  Perform routine maintenance on gasoline or diesel equipment varying from mowers, pickups, heavy equipment, construction equipment; deliver parts and supplies; clean (including steam) and wash (including pressure wash) equipment as necessary; braze and weld metals; fabricate items as necessary; work on small engines as necessary; assists mechanic with dismantling, repairing and assembly of golf course equipment fleet and/or heavy equipment as assigned;   performs shop janitorial duties as assigned to ensure a clean and safe work, break and supply areas.

 

Knowledges, Skills, and Other Characteristics:

·       Knowledge of occupational safety and health policies and procedures related to vehicle maintenance and repair.

·        Knowledge of A.D.O.S.H. laws pertaining to the operation of shop.

·        General knowledge of tire and rim repair and replacement for mowers, golf carts, trucks and other equipment.

·       General knowledge of basic repair, maintenance, and safety practices for light and heavy duty (gas & diesel) equipment.

·        Skill in safely repairing and testing mowing fleet and equipment.

·        Skill in maintaining complete and accurate service records an all mowers and vehicles.

·        Skill in operating a variety of office equipment, including personal computers (hardware & software), telephones, calculators, etc.

·       Skill in utilizing customer service techniques when responding to inquiries and complaints.

·       Skill in light welding and metal fabrication.

·        Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with State, Federal, and other local officials, City employees, vendors and suppliers, and City residents.

·       Skill in following oral and written instructions. 

 

Physical and Visual Ability: sufficient to effectively and safely perform required duties and to safely operate required equipment and city vehicle as needed.  Must be able to routinely lift, push and pull 75 pounds.

Hearing and Speaking Ability: sufficient to clearly, concisely and effectively communicate in person and over the telephone.
