is currently recruiting for the position of:

Parks Superintendent

Salary Range: $63,839 - $94,319 annually

Hiring Range: $63,839 - $71,459 annually

 

The City of Peoria is seeking a highly motivated individual to manage and direct the programs, operations, and activities of the Trails, Open Space and Right-of-Way divisions. The ideal candidate would have experience managing staff, budgets and projects related to parks, open space, preservation of natural resources, washes, mountain trails, trailheads, shared-use pathways and right-of-ways. In addition to the supervision of city personnel, this position will oversee and manage the maintenance contracts for retention basins, MIDs (Maintenance Improvement District), and Right-of-Ways.

 

The ideal candidate will need to be well versed with Sustainable Landscape Management practices, Tree Care and Maintenance Practices as well as proper agronomic practices relating to turfgrass. The Parks Superintendent will also be responsible for oversight and contract execution for the Parks Division Capital Improvement and Capital Replacement Projects. Below is an overview of key areas of responsibility.

 

Areas of Responsibility

 

Shared Use Pathways:         42.1 miles (New River Trail and Skunk Creek Trail)

Mountain Trails:           10.5 miles (Calderwood Butte, West Wing Mountain, East Wing Mountain, Sunrise Mountain).

MIDs:                              13 locations, 17 acres Right-of-Way Acreage:                        321 total acres

Landscape Maintenance:    P83, Old Town, City Hall, Peoria Center for the Performing Arts Center, Community Center, Community Garden

 

Projects:                         Varies based on yearly budget allotments. Projects typically include landscape improvements/additions, ramada & building improvements

 

This position will require the justification and allocation of resources through data-driven management. It is essential that the candidate possess demonstrated skills and organizational traits necessary to plan and document projects as well as manage resources by maintaining proper operational records. This includes monitoring and analyzing resource and operational efficiencies. The candidate must possess the knowledge to decipher and analyze data from diverse sources and subject matters in order to create data-driven narrative reports, recommendations and improvements for division projects and processes.
