Duties:

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will play an integral role in the development and implementation of all agronomic strategies to ensure that member standards for superior course conditioning and presentation are met on a daily basis. Qualified candidates will display dedication to the profession and the desire to become a Golf Course Superintendent. The Assistant will utilize exceptional organization, interpersonal, and communication skills to plan, execute and supervise daily maintenance operations. Beyond typical daily responsibilities he/she will be directly responsible for crew performance and morale with specific emphasis on employee training and development. The Assistant will play a fundamental role in creating and maintaining a culture that strives for excellence. This culture should be evident throughout every facet of the golf maintenance operation. Dedication, attention to detail, accountability, and integrity are necessary character traits of the Assistant.

Requirements:

The Assistant will work directly with the Golf Course Superintendent in all facets of course operations and management.  He/She will be responsible for utilizing sound agronomic reasoning and personnel management to plan and execute all daily course operations.  Daily responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

·        Scouting & course set up

·        Scheduling daily maintenance activities

·        Staff training & supervision

·        Chemical & fertilizer calibrations & applications

·        Irrigation scheduling, operation, troubleshooting &   repair

·        Hand watering & syringing

·        Project management

·        Budget & purchasing

·        Experience as a First or Second Assistant preferred

·        AITs or recent college graduates with multiple years course experience

·        One or more competitive internships at high end facility

·        Spanish speaking skills preferred and very beneficial

·        Rainbird irrigation experience would be a plus

·        Certificate or Degree in Turf Management (or closely related field)
