Duties: | The Irrigation Specialist, under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent, is responsible for the programming, operation and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system. The Irrigation Specialist is required to report any irregularities in course turf quality to the superintendent or assistant superintendent. He/She will manage the irrigation performance and implement corrective action for over-watering or lack of watering. ------- Repair pipe breaks (PVC and Poly), irrigation heads and valves ------- Operates sprinklers manually, by clocks, by computer, and by phone ------- Identify and repair electrical problems in irrigation system ------- Conduct continual visual inspections ------- Troubleshoot sprinklers. Valves, irrigation clocks ------- Assist in irrigation projects ------- Maintains, inventories, and orders irrigation parts and supplies ------- Preventative maintenance on all aspects of irrigation system ------- Occasionally will perform other golf course maintenance tasks ------- Occasionally supervises a small labor force for special projects |
Salary: | Depending On Experience $16.00 -$18.00 Per Hour |

Requirements: | ------- Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers, and working knowledge of various types of pumps and pumping systems, irrigation sprinklers and parts ------- Understanding of agronomy, turf grass science, and rules of golf ------- Knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in grounds maintenance work ------- Ability to operate various golf course equipment ------- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions ------- Possession of valid driver's license ------- Minimum 2 years golf course or sports field experience ------- Identity safety hazards and act accordingly ------- Ability to follow company policy/procedures, complying with all administrative responsibilities ------- Must be able to work on feet for at least 8 hours per day ------- Must be able to withstand working in extreme temperatures ------- Must be able to work weekends and holidays, mornings and as business demands ------- Must be able to lift, reach, bend, twist, push, pull, squat, grasp and use arm-hand coordination on a consistent basis ------- Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds occasionally |
