The Club
The TwinEagles Club is a unique, private country club community where members make long-lasting friendships for a lifetime! TwinEagles offers 36 holes of Championship Golf, a charming Scottish Manor-designed Clubhouse featuring an outside dining veranda overlooking the Talon golf course, Two Har-Tru Tennis Courts, a state-of-the-art Fitness Center, and a resort-style Swimming Pool for a diverse lifestyle for the entire family.
The Club is known for its sensational golf courses and their unrivaled practice facilities. The Talon Course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II. Steve Smyers and his design associate, Patrick Andrews designed the Eagle course. TwinEagles is a low-density community with 307 golf memberships per 18 holes. The members take pride that they enjoy golf on the same 36 holes that tour players have professionally played. The Club has been the site of PGA Champions Tour and LPGA tournaments.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Director of Agronomy (DoA) is a full-time, exempt employee of the TwinEagles Club, reporting directly to the General Manager / COO and will work in partnership with other club Directors and employees. Under supervision of the General Manager, the Director’s primary responsibility consists of all maintenance of the golf course and landscaped areas in excellent repair and condition while conserving and protecting natural resources. The Director is expected to share in the long-term strategic vision of the club and contribute to its overall growth from a tactical perspective in the day-to-day operations, and from a strategic, long-term planning perspective while yielding innovation and efficiency for the club.
The DoA is expected to lead the golf course maintenance team as well as provide information, recommendations, and leadership to the Greens Committee to produce exceptional playing conditions. Well-articulated and candid discourse is expected and required with the GM/COO, Head Golf Professional and Greens Committee.
The DoA is expected to routinely play (or walk) the course to determine the actual playing conditions of the courses, and to ensure that they are consistently in top playing condition. Continuing education and staying at the forefront of research and technology are necessary for success. In addition, the DoA will provide creative leadership and foster a culture of continuing education and development of future turf professionals. The DoA must demonstrate sincere and engaged visibility with members and staff, along with a love of the game of golf and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
INITIAL AREAS OF FOCUS
- Evaluate existing turf and soil conditions along with current maintenance practices and develop plans to improve the turf conditions and golf experience
- Evaluate encroachment to greens and “shrinkage” along with collar dams
- Create a Team atmosphere in the golf course maintenance department with a solid organizational structure and clear, timely communication
- Develop solid relations with the Clubs’ other departments
- Evaluate direct reports and crew and create a development plan
- Assess environmental/growing conditions
- Review and refine (or develop) standard operating and course conditioning procedures
Candidate Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a Superintendent with a minimum of ten years’ progressive experience at a golf course(s) known for high-level playability and conditioning.

· A student of the game of golf and the proven ability to produce exceptional playing conditions

· Experienced in successfully managing Bermuda grass in a south Florida-like climate
· Experienced in consistently providing fast, smooth and firm greens
· Known for a high level of detail work and bunker maintenance
· Experienced in irrigation system maintenance including leveling irrigation heads
· A confident, resourceful leader and mentor to the golf course maintenance team
· A strong relationship builder with a history of collaboration with their Green/Grounds Chairman, Golf Professional, and General Manager/COO
· An individual with strong financial acumen, experienced in budget management and forecasting
· An exemplary steward of all resources
· A well organized, detail-focused observer
· A creative turf manager with strong agronomic skills – one who stays current with advances in turf technology, irrigation management and equipment
· Acutely aware of the delicate balance that exists between cultural turf maintenance practices and member expectations on playability
· A manager that understands the value of, and importance of maintaining on-course landscaping
· Experienced in high-end residential neighbor relations
· Experienced in tree maintenance and shade mitigation

Educational and Certification Requirements
A degree in turf management or related field of study is required. Certification with the GCSAA (CGCS) is preferred.
Salary and Benefits
Salary is open and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The club, along with the typical GCSAA benefits, offers an excellent bonus and benefit package.
