Position: Grounds Maintenance Worker I

 

Facility: Town of Gilbert Parks

 

Duties:

·       Turf maintenance

  • Baseball and softball field prep to include:
    • measures, lays out, chalks and paints field lines as needed
    • mound, home plate, pitching rubber, batter’s box, base anchor housings, infield skin work, and bullpens
  • Routine irrigation system maintenance, inspection, diagnostics, and repair
    • sprinkler heads, pipe fitting, solenoid valves, gate valves, service tees, and mainline repairs
  • Providing customer service, information, direction, and assistance. Initiating problem resolution. 
  • Following established procedures and promoting safety in assigned area. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Salary: $16.99 - $23.79 Depending On Experience

Requirements:

·       High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).

  • Six months previous experience and/or training in grounds maintenance, athletic field maintenance, irrigation system maintenance, equipment operation, and manual labor.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work
  • Valid Arizona Driver License

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and skills in the following areas:

  • Skill in equipment operation including multi and single deck mowers, utility vehicles, tractors and attachments including aerators, Gannon, top dresser, vacuum, rototiller, etc.
  • Skill in power tool operation including chainsaw, pole-saw, stump grinder, auger, jackhammer, hedge trimmer, etc.
  • Skill in cleaning and maintenance of facilities
  • Skill in working in a team environment and have customer service skills
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations and/or ordinances
