| Duties: | Responsible for maintenance of golf course, greenbelt, and lake areas, (Units 1, 2, 5 & 6 - 19 acres; Unit 7 - 6 acres); main clubhouse grounds (2-1/2 acres); Oasis recreational area grounds (1 acre); medium and parkways on Sun Lakes Blvd. (excluding commercial area) from Riggs Rd. south to the main clubhouse (1/2 acre); main entrance at Sun Lakes Blvd. & Riggs Rd. (1/4 acre); parkway along Riggs Rd. outside perimeter wall (1 acre); lots; unit 41 (formerly tree farm - 2.60 acres); and Riggs and Dobson Roads. Keep all cart paths in usable condition - both those on the golf course and greenbelts. Maintain irrigation systems, lake areas, flower beds, trees, and shrubs (on an as-needed basis) responsible for annual flower plantings. Responsible for planting and maintaining winter grass in areas designed by the Board of Directors as shown in the annual Plan of Operation. Golf course maintenance includes overseeing mowing, fertilizing, keeping sand traps cleaned, edged, sprayed, machine-raked, and replenished with sand on an as-needed basis. Maintains driving range and putting green; pitch and putt course (including rubber tee mats). Supervises landscaping services for Pro Shop. Supervise trash pick-up service throughout the golf course. Orders irrigation water from Pima Utility Company to replenish irrigation reservoirs (lakes). Chief Operator for an irrigation system for pumps, sprinklers, and computer controls. Responsible for providing supplies, repair parts, and equipment for golf course and greenbelt. Responsible for setting the location of tees and holes on the greens. Determine when the golf course should be open or closed due to frost conditions. Oversee outside weed control contractor for parkways, but still must provide labor for picking up trash along Riggs and Dobson Roads. Keep all cart paths in usable condition - both those on the golf course and greenbelts. a) Control Weed growth for the five areas where streets lead out to Price Road and Hunt Highway, as well as the east side of Pima Place. o) Maintain irrigation systems, lake areas, flower beds, trees, and shrubs (on an as-needed basis) responsible for annual flower plantings. p) Responsible for planting and maintaining winter grass in areas designed by the Board of Directors as shown in the annual Plan of Operation. q) Maintain two acres (including water feature) at the southwest corner of Riggs Road and Sun Lakes Blvd. r) Orders irrigation water from Pima Utility Company to replenish irrigation reservoirs (lakes). s) Chief Operator for an irrigation system for pumps, sprinklers, and computer controls. t) Responsible for providing supplies, repair parts, and equipment for golf course and greenbelt. Personnel 1. Prepare work schedules and make changes necessary for required personnel coverage. 2. The Superintendent may appoint, at his discretion, an Assistant Superintendent or Foreman to act on his behalf in his absence. This is not necessary if the position of assistant is active. This is at the approval of the Superintendent or General Manager. 3. Make recommendations to Human Resources Manager on personnel matters in the department regarding hiring, promotions, discipline, raises, terminations, etc. Financial 1. Plan and prepare a departmental Plan of Operation and annual budget. 2. Prepare annual performance reviews and present them to the Human Resources Manager for salary consideration. 3. Approve invoices charged to this department. Homeowner Interface 1. Work with various golfing groups and Pro Shop Manager for various tournaments and golfing activities. 2. Listen to complaints or problems of homeowners and correct them if possible, or refer if necessary. Miscellaneous 1. Try to prevent fish kills in all lakes and remove dead fish as necessary. Maintain lakes for weed and algae control. Order Amur fish as needed. 2. Maintains emergency telephone roster with Community Services Department to be used when needed. 3. Handle all necessary correspondence from the department and respond to inquiries to the department. 4. Perform other duties as required.

| Requirements: | The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years combined experience as a Golf Course Superintendent. A minimum turf management or horticulture degree or equivalent experience is preferred but not required. Certified pesticide applicator in the state of Arizona. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred. Must have a valid driver's license. |
