Job Description

 

Job Title: Irrigation Technician  

Department: Maintenance        

Reports to: Account Manager               

Type: Nonexempt

 

Summary:  Installs, diagnoses, and troubleshoots irrigation-related problems and equipment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 

  • Installs troubleshoots and repairs many types and models of irrigation controllers, timers and valves.
  • Adjusts irrigation heads, nozzles and drip irrigation components
  • Repairs irrigation mainlines using components and techniques established by the industry.
  • Repairs backflow prevention devices
  • Assists field personnel with diagnosing and troubleshooting irrigation-related problems.
  • Performs site assessments, inspects equipment, inventory supplies and maintains adequate on-hand supplies.
  • Maintains records of maintenance activities and completed work orders.
  • Prepares documents and reports.
  • Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe work conditions or practice to supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Must be able to operate or use trenching and boring equipment and shovel to prepare trenches.
  • Methods, tools, equipment, materials, and practices used in the irrigation trade.
  • Must have knowledge of PVC installation and techniques.
  • Must be able to provide detailed irrigation site assessments.
  • Must be able to respond to emergencies in a timely manner
  • Must be able to perform necessary math calculations.
  • Communicate all issues with supervisors
  • Must have three years of irrigation work experience
  • Must be able to wear PPE as necessary.
  • Must be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day.
  • Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, i.e., heat, sun, cold.
  • Must be able to traverse various terrains.
  • Must be able to write, read, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.
  • Must be able to maintain attention during dangerous tasks.
  • Must be able to lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Must have sufficient eyesight to judge distances and coordination to get and use the appropriate equipment and tools.
  • Bilingual Spanish (Preferred)
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and Motor Vehicle Records Check (MVR).
  • Must have a valid Arizona State driver s license.
