Duties:

Rio Vista Community Park is a 52 acre community park that opened in 2004. The facility features lighted softball/baseball fields, multi-purpose sports fields, group picnic ramadas, lighted sand volleyball courts, playgrounds, skate park, splash park, walk/jog paths, trail system connections and an urban lake. The property also hosts a veteran’s memorial wall, an over 51,000 square foot Recreation Center and privately operated batting cages and deli.

Built in 1994, Peoria Sports Complex is a Major League Baseball Spring Training and player development facility shared by the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners. The complex’s 13 full sized baseball fields are utilized year-round for each team’s player development systems, Arizona Fall League, international teams and by local and national youth and adult baseball tournaments and championships. The complex is also host to a variety of events such as concerts, art shows, car and RV shows, bike races, fundraisers and city sponsored special events.

The city of Peoria is also under construction for Pioneer Community Park. This 85 acre park will include a 5 acre lake, 6 softball/baseball fields, 4 soccer fields and other amenities. This park is anticipated to open in fall 2014. 

The purpose of this position is to coordinate and oversee the daily maintenance and operations performed at Peoria Sports Complex and Rio Vista Community Park for the Community Services Department. The position will require primary onsite supervision and coordination of events, schedules and projects in the absence of the supervisor. This is accomplished by supervising staff engaged in the maintenance and landscaping of the City’s Sports Complexes, including regulation baseball playing fields used by professional, Major League teams.

Salary:

$52,116-$76,999 annually

Requirements:

Qualified candidates possess broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. The position requires over three years up to and including five years experience. A valid AZ driver’s license is required upon hire and a pesticide/herbicide applicators license within 6 months of hire.

Responsible to:

·        Supervises staff, establishes goals and objectives; participates in the hiring process and personnel actions.

·        Manages weekly reports, conducts on-site safety inspections, and monitors supplies and inventory; provides statistical data for budget preparation.

·        Reviews, completes and approves general personnel, payroll, financial or purchasing functions, which include completing timesheets, approving time-off requests, making recommendations in the acquisitions required to operate and maintain the facilities.

·        Requisitions materials, supplies, and equipment needed for the maintenance of assigned facilities.

·        Provides positive customer service; answers customer inquiries by phone, electronic or in person.

·        Serves as City liaison with sports team representatives. Supervises promoters and team representatives as required in regards to field scheduling and usage.

·        Develops and implements training programs for both new and existing employees. Coordinates safety program.

·        Oversees Capital Improvement Projects.

·        Conducts technical maintenance work, such as laser leveling, overseeing the irrigation system testing and maintenance, and providing technical guidance on fertilizer/chemical applications.
