POSITION SUMMARY The Spray Technician is responsible for the spraying or supervising of spray operations or granular fertilizer applications for the golf course he/she is assigned, assuring the member/guest experience exceeds expectations. The Spray Technician is an integral part of the Maintenance Operation and functions as a key player on the team. Additional duties may be assigned as required. ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE The Spray Technician will coach the Assistant Technicians performance and develop him/her to become a Spray Technician. KEY RESPONSIBILITES The Spray Technician will create a fun, motivational environment by leading by example. Review operational challenges and recommend solutions. Possess knowledge of departmental budget. Be proactive in advising Assistant Superintendent of work schedule needs. Attend educational seminars to stay current with leading technology. Create a shared vision among team members. Observe chemicals being mixed to insure correct chemicals and rates are being followed. Observe or apply personally to insure proper overlap/pressure operation, speed and area covered. All must be performed professionally. Follow directions as provided by the assistant or superintendent. Ensure the safety of employees under his supervision by insuring safe mixing procedures are followed, and safety equipment is worn as required by label and law. Maintain inventories of chemicals used in maintenance operations by informing the assistant or superintendent on low inventory items. Maintain a log of all fertilizers applied and chemicals sprayed including problems and inconsistencies. Knowledge / Skills High school diploma or equivalent. Able to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of irrigation system components. Must be self-motivated and able to supervise the duties of direct reports Ability to read, analyze, and interpret as-built, reports, plans, and regulatory documents. Able to interact positively with the public and teammates Certified license for turf or ornamental crops (may vary with geographic locations and local restrictions).
