JOB DESCRIPTION
Position:	Golf Course Mechanic	Department:	Golf Operations
Reports to:	Superintendent	Supervision:	Does not supervise others
Status:	Full Time/ Non-Exempt	Updated:	08/12/2016

This is a full time position supporting a 365-day/year operation.  Under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent, the Golf Course Mechanic

is responsible for ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and running at peak performance.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·        Repair all types of turf maintenance equipment, to include mowers, trenchers, trucks, backhoe, front end loader, forklift and all-terrain vehicles;

·        Establish and maintain a preventative maintenance program for all golf equipment and vehicles including golf shop rental carts, ensuring timely support;

·        Establish and provide for low-season major repairs/overhaul to all golf course and golf shop equipment;

·      Working within the Purchasing Policy and the Budget, ensure all repair/replacement parts and tools are ordered, stocked and maintained in a timely manner to minimize equipment downtime;

·      Inform the Superintendent immediately of equipment malfunction resulting from improper use by employees;

·      Maintain a log on every piece of equipment recording repairs and maintenance;

·      Ensure work is performed in a safe manner and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Possess the proper training and (as applicable) licenses to operate and repair all types of turf maintenance equipment, to include mowers, trenchers, trucks, backhoe, front end loader, forklift and all-terrain vehicles;

·        Work on more than one task at a time with frequent interruptions, changes, and delays; remain focused and work effectively and efficiently under such circumstances;

·        Work effectively in a team environment;

·        Be aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns;

·        Understand and comply with both oral and written instructions; and

·        Meet work deadlines and schedules with minimal supervision.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

5+ years of experience in golf course maintenance and High School or equivalent diploma; or a combination of education, experience, and training that indicates the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position listed above.  Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license.

May work extended hours, including weekends and holidays as necessary.  Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish.
