PURPOSE: Entrusted with assisting in the maintenance, operation and management of a tract of land defined as Club Landscape. Responsibilities as follows: Assists in the supervision of the maintenance of landscape, lawns, three kinds of tennis courts, landscape lighting; assists in reviews of projects and additions; assists in the maintenance and repair of construction/maintenance equipment and performs related work as required.

1. Assists in layout and direction of landscape projects and additions.
2. Assists in the mowing, watering and maintenance of tennis courts and ensures employees are utilized with maximum efficiency.
3. Assists in supervision on planting, fertilization and maintenance of lawns.
4. Assists in ordering of supplies and materials within budgetary constraints.
5. Is responsible for file records on annual maintenance activities, including but not limited to, chemical and fertilizer applications as required by law.
6. Assists in making personnel and cost estimates for annual budgets and other projects.
7. Assists in ensuring maintenance standards are met.
8. Helps planning, assigning and directing work of others.
9. Assists in preparing reports and project estimates.
10. Assists in maintaining effective employee and public relations.
11. Assists in managing the Landscape operations in compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations.
12. Assists in the procurement, hiring, disciplining, promoting and discharging of employees under guidelines established by Desert Mountain Club Inc.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS OR EQUIVALENT:
Must possess a two year Horticulture certificate from a recognized college or university or two years of equivalent experience.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
Must be a certified pesticide applicator in the State of Arizona; must have pertinent knowledge of maintenance of tennis courts, turf, appropriate landscape materials, as well as experience in planting, cultivating, pruning and fertilizing shrubs and trees. Arborist Certification and Landscape lighting maintenance and installation experience considered a plus.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum 5 years combined experience in an assistant or managerial level position within the industry.
WORKING KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED ON THE JOB:
Through seminars, conferences and educational opportunities, stay abreast of current industry standards.
UNUSUAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to operate various machinery related to landscape and turf maintenance. Must be able to observe mowing and maintenance quality, judge noise levels and be able to lift 50 pounds. Temperature extremes from 20 to 110 degrees are common.
