Irrigation Training & Field Manager
Pay Range: $55,000-$70,000 per year Depending On Experience
Summary of Job:
DLC’s industry leading Water Management team is looking to add an Irrigation Training Field Manager. In this
position you will be leading a team of irrigation trainers that oversee the management of 1.6 Billion gallons annually. This is a job that has real impact and that strives to keep top notch looking landscapes with the end goal of Using Only Enough Water for Healthy Plants and Turf.
Essential Functions:
· Use your experience and expertise to help improve our irrigation team by taking charge of the irrigation training program, organizing and implementing trainings, and leading a team of irrigation trainers.
· Manages employees and evaluates performance of the Water Department team.
· Deploy your irrigation expertise in the field assessing system functionality, designing, bidding, and overseeing large scale repair projects, reviewing and improving irrigation programming and collecting and preserving irrigation system data.
· Mentor managers on the unique aspects of their system capacity, controllers, site conditions, team irrigation knowledge and how to get the best-looking results given their specific location, plant material and conditions.
· Serve as a “go-to” to support the team in keeping our clients’ landscape looking top-notch through all the seasons, conditions and when unique challenges arise.
Job Skills/Requirements:
· 5+ years’ experience in irrigation system maintenance, repair or design
· 2+ years supervisory experience
· Knowledgeable and proficient in basic horticultural methods and procedures
· Thorough knowledge of design, installation and management of commercial irrigation systems and have the ability to apply the theory and use of ET based Central Irrigation Systems; understand both hydraulic and electrical theory; have a good working knowledge of soil types and plant water use requirements; and be able to troubleshoot, make repairs, and perform installations to large irrigation systems and ET based Central Control systems
· Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) with the ability to quantify and bid irrigation renovation projects. Ability to interface and build relationships with clients and apply tactfulness when assessing irrigators
· Irrigation Association certifications are desirable but not required
· Great communication skills (Writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills)
· Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing (The ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus)
· Arizona Driver License and clean MVR record
· Ability to multitask and remain organized while working on multiple projects
· Ability to work scheduled shifts and maintain a great attendance record
· Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Able to lift 50 lbs. (Equipment, tools, and supplies may need to be lifted, carried and/or pushed)
· Able to walk/stand for long periods of time
· Able to reach, bend, twist, kneel, stoop, squat, crouch and grasp along with repetitive movements may part of daily job duties
Environmental Factors:
· Contact with various plants, flowers and chemicals
· Must be able to work in summer and winter climates
