Duties: | Responsible for assisting in the operating functions of the Golf Course Maintenance Department. You’d be responsible for: - Operating Greens mowers, fairway mowers, greens rollers, spray rigs and rough mowing units as needed.
- Fertilizing, aerating, top dressing and general maintenance of golf course.
- Performing preventative maintenance and repair work on a variety of small engines
- Overseeing shop operations
- Maintaining accurate information and reports on equipment
- Performing maintenance and repairs on hydraulic and electric components of equipment
- Performing various tasks associated with maintaining sharp cutting units, including grinding and adjusting
- Accurately diagnosing root causes of equipment breakdowns and instituting timely repair procedures
- Occasional travel within area to pick up parts from various vendors.
- Ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently and safely at all times
- Strong work ethic, self-motivated with limited supervision
- Good background in hydraulic and electrical diagnostics
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task and work in fast paced environment
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must have experience in Golf Course Fleet Management
- Physical demands are required for this position and might include, but are not limited to:
- Regular Heavy lifting up to 100 pounds
- Noise level in work environment is usually moderate
- Regular exposure to outside weather conditions including sun, wind, rain, cold
- Repetitive movement- standing, walking, twisting, turning, bending squatting, stooping, talking, writing, and typing

- Adhere to all the various company, club and department written mandatory standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, memos, oral instructions, etc., all of which go to make up the essential functions of the job.
- Ability to communicate effectively with proper grammar.
- Ability to work well under pressure, coordinating multiple tasks at any given time.
- Must possess a great attention to detail and be able to communicate with staff as well as Members/Guests.
- Responsible for maintaining good conduct and safe working habits while in all areas and assuring that all others are acting safely.
- 3-5 years in Golf Course Maintenance.
- A 2-year degree preferably in Agronomy/Horticulture field a plus.
- Pesticide Applicators License.
- Provide input and knowledge of result expectations.
- Confidentiality of Club, company, national acts, and personnel information.
- Must have technical and working knowledge of all equipment, products, and other resources related to Golf Course operations and to implement these resources to the level of quality as established by company standards and Club expectations.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations Have a basic understanding of the rules of golf. Be up-to-date on federal, state and local laws on golf course operations. Administrative and executive ability, especially critical in problem-solving and decision-making. Knowledge of ability to perform required role in emergency situations. Physical Demands and Work Environment Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position. |
