Position: Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Compensation Package: $75,000 - $85,000 annually (U.S. tax-free) + Bonuses + Other Benefits
The Mid Ocean Club is excited to announce the exceptional career opportunity of Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. The Mid Ocean Club is in Tuckers Town, Bermuda, and is an original 1921 Charles Blair McDonald/Seth Raynor Design. MOC is currently ranked #33 in the world by Golf Digest, #78 Platinum Club Of The World and was most recently recognized for Overseas Employer of the Year by Investors in People. As a key member of the property’s golf course maintenance team, the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the Director of Agronomy and assists with the day-to-day oversight of the maintenance and agronomic practices of the golf course including but not limited to the clubhouse landscaping, beach club and maintenance complex. MOC has recently hired Gil Hanse to perform a master plan which will be revealed in the spring of 2023. Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements:
- 2+ years turf grass experience at a high-end private/public facility required.
- 1+ year as an Assistant Superintendent in Training (AIT) or Intern experience at a high-end private facility required.
- A 4-year/2-year degree or turf certificate required from an accredited university in Agronomy, Plant Science or Turfgrass Management.
- Currently registered as a Certified Pesticide Applicator.
- GCSAA/BIGGA Member or apprentice preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency with agronomic budgeting and expense management.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of inter-departmental functions in a private golf club setting.
- Highly organized and efficient with a high attention to detail, with a hands-on management style.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Position Responsibilities:
· Assists Senior Assistant Superintendent in all record keeping and applying all fertilizer and pesticide applications, irrigation applications, weather, and personnel records.
· Assists in strategic and operational planning for the maintenance of all playing surfaces on the golf course including greens, tees, fairways, rough, etc. Conducts turf maintenance duties as needed.
· Assists in enhancing operations to improve the clubhouse grounds and other MOC facilities.
· Assists with all plans, schedules, and monitors all daily operations via our labor management tool (TaskTracker) including staff scheduling.
· Assists in evaluating and managing employee safety training. Assists with the delivery of safety training needs and monitors staff to insure personal protective equipment is worn when required.
· Partners with equipment management team on mechanical requirements and care for all equipment.
· Assists in managing the operation and maintenance of pumps, irrigation system and drainage.
· Participates in leadership meetings and green committee meetings with Director of Agronomy. Communicates in a professional manner to all MOC membership and staff.
· Participates in bi-weekly rounds of golf at MOC to establish aesthetic and conditioning standards.
· Continues educational development by partaking in online/in-person seminars via the GCSAA/BIGGA.
· Other duties as assigned by Director of Agronomy.
