General Responsibilities ● Maintenance of the golf course and producing playing conditions commensurate with course objectives and annual budget. ● Supervising the maintenance and repair of golf course maintenance equipment. ● Understanding and working within the core values of Chipeta and Adobe Creek Golf Courses and The Wilson Golf Group. ● Prepare and manage within an annual budget. ● Interview, hire, train and supervise a staff for the purpose of maintaining the golf course. ● Oversee and apply chemical applications. ● Develop a 5 year capital improvement plan for equipment and course within Wilson Golf Group guidelines. ● Take pride in operation and continuously improve. ● Oversee any on course projects. Reporting The golf course agronomist reports to the General Manager, Joe Toke Additional functions ● Oversees the scheduling and routing of personnel and equipment to accomplish the work. The superintendent frequently inspects the golf course and related areas to evaluate how well management standards are being achieved and to effect changes in management programs. ● The superintendent is responsible for inventory control and oversees the equipment maintenance programs. ● Keeps accurate and complete records on payroll, inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, etc. ● Communicates regularly with other members of the top management group to discuss activities, goals, plans and member/customer input. Employment standards ● Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turf grass management practices; a working knowledge of golf practices and methods; and a good understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf. ● A high degree of administrative and executive ability, especially in terms of problem solving and decision making. ● Excellent oral and written communications skills. ● Knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the management of golf course operations (including, but not limited to, employment, safety and environmental standards, laws and regulations). Qualifications: ● Possess a minimum of 4-year college level degree in turfgrass management or related field. Additional business education is a plus. ● Preferred 5 years combined experience as a Head or Assistant golf course superintendent. ● Demonstrated experience and capability in the areas of budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, staff management. ● Regular participant in continuing education. ● Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. ● Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends. ● Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations. Compensation Base salary will be determined to be $85,000 - $105,000 commensurate with industry experience. · Medical and Dental benefits will be provided for family or single. · A retirement plan contribution of up to 15 percent of gross wages will be included after the first full year and 1st work anniversary. · Possible yearly bonus based upon profitability of facility. · GCSAA dues paid.
