Position Title: Assistant Golf Course Superintendent Date of Notice: October 7, 2024 Job Location: Corte Bella Golf Club Start Date: Salary: $60,000 Reports to: TJ Winzeler, Head Golf Course Superintendent Property Description: Corte Bella Golf Club, purchased by KemperSports in October of 2021, is an 18-hole championship course located in the gated community of Corte Bella in Sun City West, Arizona. The club caters to an active 300+ memberships and accepts some outside public play and hosts outside tournaments. Corte Bella is open year-round and plays 44K-45K rounds a year. About 85% of rounds are member driven. Position Summary: Responsible for assisting the Superintendent with all activities related to the care and maintenance of the golf course, grounds, and equipment. Partners with the Superintendent to plan and implement course budget and operating plans. Recruits, hires, trains and supervises staff. Responsibilities also include applying relevant agronomic and horticultural principles to assure that Kemper quality standards are consistently achieved and/or exceeded. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Assist in the development of the annual maintenance budget and operating plan. Confirm financial targets are met and appropriate accounting procedures are followed consistently. · Plan and implement staffing schedules to ensure daily course set up meets company and USGA playing standards. · Effectively lead staff to establish a quality product. Continually follow up to ensure tasks are being completed timely and to the appropriate standards and that equipment is set up and operating properly. · Supervise the development and maintenance of drainage, irrigation, pumping and water reservoir systems. · Supervise all planting, fertilizing and care of turf, plants, shrubs, and trees on the golf course and grounds. · Evaluate, create and implement fertilizer and IPM programs. Confirm equipment is operating properly and calibrated correctly prior to each application. · Supervise course construction projects. · Supervise equipment maintenance and repair operations, to include a cleaning and preventative maintenance program for appropriate equipment, tools, vehicles, etc. · Ensure maintenance of all appropriate quality and cleanliness standards including, but not limited to, employee hygiene and uniforms, equipment repair areas, equipment storage areas, chemical and fertilizer storage areas, receiving areas, washing areas, lunchroom areas, restrooms, etc. · Monitor the purchase ordering and receiving program to maintain proper inventories of supplies and ensure proper quantity and price on all purchases. · Maintain compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, OSHA rules and regulations, relating to chemical and fertilizer storage and disposal, employee safety, public safety, etc. · Manage employment activities for applicable staff members, including but not limited to, personnel recruitment and selection, performance evaluations, training, compensation, discipline and termination, etc. · Maintain accurate records pertaining to department activities including, but not limited to, labor schedules, course maintenance, construction activities, equipment repair, safety meetings, fertilizer and chemical applications and pest control practices. · Maintain knowledge of current and projected industry developments through continuous attention to industry periodicals and participation in relevant trade associations and organizations. · Complete daily tasks alongside maintenance staff as needed. Tasks may include: mowing, course set-up, irrigation, debris cleanup, trimming and/or other duties as assigned by Superintendent or management. Qualifications: · High school education required; college degree preferred. · 3 years golf course maintenance, supervisory and/or management experience. · Demonstrated experience and capability in the areas of fiscal management, strategic planning, staff management, soil science, and water management. · Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with an emphasis on leadership. · Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision, work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. · Ability to acquire and maintain a pesticide license within the first 90 days of start. · Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
