Position: Golf Senior Leader
Facility: Recreation Centers of Sun City ~ All eight (8) golf courses
Duties:
Job Summary:
This senior management team member will manage, direct, and oversee the Recreation Centers of Sun City (RCSC) golf division and snack shops (eight golf courses and five snack shops). Supervise, assign and review the work of staff and contractors accountable for such operations. Maintain communication and relations with Sun City residents, RCSC cardholders and personnel and the public. Act as the staff liaison to the Golf Advisory Committee and Green Committee at each golf course. Seek to build new and innovative methods for increasing golf play and snack shop usage.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assure quality service is provided to all persons using golf facilities and snack shops; address complaints and resolve problems; administer email blasts, press releases and communication as needed.
· Assure quality of golf courses by following proper procedures and agronomic practices with regular course and site visits.
· Manage Golf Superintendents, Area Golf Course Superintendent, Golf Shop Coordinator, Head Snack Shop Manager and Snack Shop Managers to ensure effective and efficient operation of their respective departments. Conduct monthly meetings to review their respective financial performances, variances and related managerial reports.
· Regulate the use of golf courses, manage reservations and starting time procedures; interface with third party providers for the internet posting of tee times and rates that are available.
· Work closely with USGA & RCSC Agronomists to plan normal agronomic practices, identify equipment/resource needs, projects and future needs.
· Work closely with Superintendents to ensure efficient operation of golf courses.
· Advise RCSC General Manager on a regular basis of golf course conditions, golf pro shop operations and snack shop operations. Regular information should include deviation from established budget and actions contemplated, staffing issues, resource needs and reports from various committees.
· Oversee hiring, training, supervision and discipline of all golf divisions and snack shop personnel; assure safety training requirements and meet corporate safety goals; assure maintenance of good employee morale through effective communication and leadership skills; direct successful recruitment and retention of employees.
· Assist in the enforcement and the application of all rules, regulations, and policies promulgated and adopted by the Corporation; ensure the adherence to safe work practices and procedures to include accurate reporting and investigation of all health and safety related incidents and accidents; stay current on state and federal occupational safety and health requirements; ensure regular safety inspections and maintain accurate documentation.
· Seek and coordinate competitive product pricing; assure that accurate accounting and inventory control records are maintained and submitted on a timely basis. Ensure proper procedures are observed and coordinated when merchandise is bought, received, displayed, and sold; coordinate and oversee the merchandise inventory functions on a regular basis. Apply internal controls required for security of merchandise.
· Ensure that accurate records and reports are maintained and submitted; account for all monies received from golf and snack shop operations; direct the preparation and administration of the golf division and snack shops annual budgets; monitor the expenditures for compliance to the approved annual budget; direct the preparation and implementation of budgetary adjustments as necessary; effectively utilize staff, equipment and facilities; develop methods for cost reduction and ensure consolidation of operations when feasible.
· Maintain high visibility at golf courses and snack shops to ensure employee accessibility and customer service. · Manage the Head Snack Shop Manager, ensuring that cost of sales percentage goals are met through appropriate menu pricing.
· Work with and assist the golf committees as an integral part of golf operations; attend Board/Member Exchange meetings and monthly Board meetings, attend and participate in a variety of management meetings; stay current of new trends and developments in the golf industry and snack shop operations.
· Ensure that appropriate water and energy conservation programs are in place and that all requirements, reports and filings with the Arizona Department of Water Resources are met and filed appropriately; make certain that golf equipment is maintained and inspected regularly. · Regularly review Ford Pro Telematics for all direct reports who drive Company vehicles. Address any issues immediately.
· Participate in mandatory safety training and prioritize safety throughout the workday.
· Undertake any other duties as assigned to support the organization's mission, vision, and values.

· Good knowledge of golf course operations such as; transition, over seeding, aerification, course layout and playability
· Knowledge of agronomic practices for golf courses, lawn bowling greens, and landscape management · Knowledge of point of sale systems and operation

Requirements:
· Bachelors degree with an emphasis in business management or related field, or
· Ten years' experience in management, with a minimum of seven years in the golf industry and five years in food service management
· Five years of supervisory experience
· Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training which demonstrates ability to perform duties of the position
· Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and point of sale systems required. Recent/Current use of computer systems in a work environment required. Familiarity with TEG software is preferred.
· Possession of a Maricopa County Food Handler Managers Card, Certification of Completed Manager's Alcohol Training, qualify as an Arizona Liquor License Agent
