Duties: | Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Golf Course Superintendent to manage and oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance and operations. This position requires an experienced individual with a passion for turf management, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to providing exceptional playing conditions for our guests. This position must have a deep understanding of the unique challenges of maintaining a golf course in Arizona's climate and will be capable of managing a team to ensure the golf course remains in top condition year-round. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. · Bachelor's degree in Turf Management, Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field (or equivalent experience). · In-depth knowledge of turf management principles and practices, including irrigation systems, pest control, soil science, and equipment maintenance. · Experience working in desert climates, specifically understanding the unique needs and challenges of maintaining a golf course in Arizona. · Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to train and motivate staff. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, management, and guests. · Ability to manage budgets, control expenses, and prioritize tasks effectively. · Strong problem solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing conditions. · Certified Golf Course Superintendent (CGCS) designation or willingness to obtain preferred. · Arizona pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe) preferred. Additional training and/or recertification may be required at the company's discretion. Essential Job Functions: · Oversee the day-to-day maintenance and management of all golf course grounds, including tees, greens, fairways, bunkers, roughs, and landscaping. · Develop and implement maintenance schedules for all turf care, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and equipment management. · Supervise, train, and schedule the maintenance staff, ensuring a high level of professionalism, efficiency and safety. · Monitor the condition of the golf course and make adjustments to maintenance practices as needed to meet high standards of playability and aesthetics. · Manage the irrigation system, ensuring water conservation practices are followed in line with Arizona's water regulations. · Ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements related to golf course operations. · Collaborate with golf course management, ensuring conditions align with the needs of players and special events. · Coordinate with outside contractors for specialized services (e.g. tree maintenance, pest control) as needed. · Respond to member and guest feedback regarding course conditions and make improvements based on input. · Work closely with other departments (pro shop, sales, management, etc.) to support the overall operations of the facility. · Ensure that all maintenance equipment is properly maintained and in good working order. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; outdoor weather conditions and vibration. Physical Demands: The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. |
